Lifecycle of a nub

We have a solidified process to make sure you get the absolute best and beautiful nub imaginable, and we would love to walk through that process!

Stage 01

Design

It all starts with a simple sketch, and our artists and collaborators working hard to bring life to an idea.

After being sketched, we work with the creator to refine and iterate until something

It starts as a nub — a rough idea, a doodle, a shape somebody cannot stop thinking about. That idea becomes concept art, and the creator and their community weigh in on what is working and what is not. Then we order a prototype sample so there is something real to hold and squish. Notes go back, the sample comes again, and that loop repeats until the bag charm in our hands matches the one in the drawing.

Stage 02

Manufacturing

Production runs with vetted manufacturing partners who meet our standards for safe, fair working conditions — the same commitment we make on our About Us page. Before a run is approved, we check production samples against the signed-off prototype: stitching, fabric, fill, color, the way it sits on a bag. If a sample misses, it goes back for another round. Nothing goes into production on a maybe.

Stage 03

Launch

The campaign opens as a threshold pre-order: a set number of orders is what funds the production run. You are charged when you order. If the campaign reaches its goal, we place the run and the charm gets made. If it does not reach the goal, every backer is refunded in full automatically, in 5–10 business days — you do not have to request it. Either way, we post the outcome on the campaign page.

Stage 04

Shipment

When the run is finished, the batch goes through a final quality check, then gets packed and shipped with tracking so you can follow it to your door. Every campaign shows its estimated ship month before you order, written the same plain way each time — Est. ships, followed by the month and year — and it stays on the campaign page through production. If that estimate moves, you hear it from us first.

The people behind the process

Who we work with, how we choose our manufacturing partners, and why we run campaigns this way instead of guessing at a warehouse full of stock — that is the rest of the story.
